Hisha F. Pimeä, candy for the cannibal
So, I think it has already been mentioned that Megamind’s invisible car doesn’t have seatbelts, which explains why he didn’t even think about fastening his seatbelt when he was in the news van.
We can also notice the driver’s seat and pedals were obviously made for Minion, even though Meg also drives when his friend is gone.
But let’s get back to the lack of seatbelts.
Knowing Meg’s background, I assume he had never even been in a car before creating his own. The only means of transportation he had any experience with was the bus (and the safety pod he arrived on Earth in, if that counts), which most likely didn’t have seatbelts.
So, if he built the invisible car from scratch (instead of just steal an already existing car and modify it), I guess the news van was the first vehicle he’s been in that had seatbelts.
He didn’t just forget to fasten his ; he probably didn’t even know it was important.
